Al Gore in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Al Gore in AlbuquerqueAfter flying in from Colorado, the busy Al Gore visited Albuquerque New Mexico and gave a well-received, passionate call out for the environment.

He began with his usual, "I used to be the next president of the United States" opening, to an excited and anxious crowd ready to hear the latest stats on the ever increasing Global Warming issue.

I think the one subject that disturbed me the most (It’s all rather disturbing...) was the timeline humanity was now looking at. The HUGE environmental impact of our human ways which used to be thought of as being many years away, was now predicted to be only seven years away.

"This isn’t hard to see", I thought to myself. Simply by turning on the news, or getting on the Internet, one can see the hundreds of thousands of environment refugees looking to relocate their lives all over the world. It was, however, and as usual, hard to hear.

I wondered why the entire city of Albuquerque wasn’t there, if for nothing else, to be in the energy of those who were on the "front lines" of this global assassin we call Warming....So I, of course, asked.

There were three main answers:

1. Tickets cost more than people can afford. (I think the farthest seats were $36 each, closer ones were $50...something each, and the closest ones were $109 each)

2. Not enough advertising. (Myself and my daughter stopped and had dinner afterwards, right down the street from the event, and many of the people eating weren’t even aware that it had taken place.)

3. Don’t want to know about it. (Heads in the sand syndrome.)

My conclusions:

1. Help humanity understand their own ability to create (so there’s always enough money).

2. Can’t do much about the advertising...

3. Take the ’fear’ out of the equation because clear decisions never come from fear, and buy a shovel when the sand is too deep.

Much love,
